how to create a variable load

Hi,

I was just wondering what's the best way to create a variable load.  I want the load to draw current from the rest of the circuit in pulses.  A picture of what I mean by the pulsed load is attached.  I'm thinking of using a current sink with timed switches but I'm not sure if that would even work/is a good way to approach this.  My reason for having this pulsed load is because I want to look at the I-V characteristics of the battery/supercapacitors/other energy supplying elements in my circuit as this pulsed load is being drawn.

Thanks for your help,

Kevin

Kevin,

Using a simple current source sink is a popular way of loading a circuit.

Alternatively, you can use the "VOLTAGE_CONTROLLED_RESISTOR_VIRTUAL" from the BASIC_VIRTUAL group. Just drive the control terminals of the this component using a voltage signal of your choise.

Thanks,
