merging two layouts

I wish to add the circuit on one layout to another layout, i.e. merge two circuits on the same board and interconnect specific nets.  I wish to maintain the features of the layout for each circuit, such as ground planes, isolation etc.

How does one handle the net names/numbers that might be the same if I copy/paste the circuit?  Is there any other way to do this?

I am not sure exactly how this would work, but you can cut and paste the second circuit into the first. The problem is that you have to use EDIT>Paste Special>Place with nets otherwise the second circuit won't be pasted with any nets. The drawback is that all the nets in the pasted circuit will hook up to the existing circuit with only the ratsnest lines and would require routing these connections. The other thing is that anytime you cut and paste in  this manner the refdes of the components get updated. So if you had a V1 in the first circuit, the pasted circuit's V1 would be re-labeld to V2.

I will enclose a simple circuit that I created to show how this looks after the cut and paste job. From this you may be able to tell if it would work for you.

I hope this helps some as this is the only way I know of to do this.
