Hi;
I need to design a bandpass filter that works at high frequency, this band pass filter needs to be designed using operational amplifiers. So I chose a high speed, low noise opamp (e.g. LT1214). My initial design is done using Filter Solutions software ( I have access to the professional version ). But when I transfer the design into multisim the response is way too off.
My questions are: Is Filter Solutions a reliable source for the initial design?
Is there any trick to Multisim when working with relatively high frequencies?
How can I test and simulate my design to make sure that when I design the PCB and send it for assembly (I am going to have the PCB and the assembly
done in factory) it will work properly?
And finally, should I use any other software for simulation/test?
Million thanks in advance.

Hi,
I can help you on that but I need to know the following:
- At what frequency are you designing your filter?
- What kind of distributed elements are in the design and how many? (Can you send the multisim file and a screen shot of Filtersolutions schematic and response?)
- How are you transferring the design between both tools? Or you're simply recreating it?
The reason I am asking these questions is because some of the limitation Multisim has are the absence of S-parameter simulation and transmission line modeling. Knowing the frequency range and the complexity of the circuit, I can determine whether it can be worked around for RF filter design or not.

With Regards;
I can't appreciate enough for your response. Unfortunately I have been sick since two days ago and the campus is closed now for Holidays. I will send all the information next monday.
Again, thank you very much
