ultiboard outline

O.K. I found a way around the limitations of the forum. Below is the instructions for the file.

1) Unzip the file where you want to

2) Launch Ultiboard and start a new project

3) Select FILE>IMPORT>DXF. Select the file you  just extracted .When the box comes up select MERGE IMPORT DATA INTO EXISTING LAYER. Select Board Outline in the drop down box. Set INTERPRET UNITS IN FILE AS to mil instead of mm

4) Once the file is loaded you will see a yellow blob that looks nothing like your baord. Double click this yellow blob and when the board properties comes up delete every thing in the attributes box. Then you should see your outline as you wanted it,

The last step is necessary because the free Cad Program I downloaded seems to add additionl test or something to it's save file. (What can you expect from a freebie)

I hope this get you going and the outline is what you want.

Lacy,

Just a follow up.  I was able to use the ABViewer program that you used to generate that board outline for me (thanks, again) to add an extra arc I decided that I needed.  The version of ABViewer I was able to download was a trial version - 45 days free usage, and it does have the text that shows up as a yellow blob.

I found a program that I think is better.  CadStd (www.cadstd.com) has a free version that outputs .DXF files and that doesn't put any extraneous stuff in the files.  It does take a little time to figure out how to draw arcs and such, but being able to place a quickly-constructed auxiliary drawing with lines and circles on a different layer and then using it to help trace the arcs is nice.

   Best wishes,

Thanks a bunch for that information. I am going to download that and try it as I don't have any true CAD packages. I sure this will be of great help to everyone here.

This is a great thing that you have done for the community and is really appreciated.
