unable to run assembler

I was wondering if anyone else was having this issue. A freshly installing CDC student edition under vista(x64) I try to run the pic LCD example(or any pic example at that). I get the typical message that project is outdated...need to build. It fails to build giving me the message "unable to located assembler". Now I perform the same steps on my Xp(x86) machine and no problems. Any ideas?

I tried the same example (and also different ones for 8051 and PIC) on a 32-bit Vista system and everything is working fine.
Check the MCU Code Manager for your MCU (right-click on the project or asm file) to see if the Microchip MPASM for PIC16 has been selected as the compiler tool.

Do you have the same problems running any of the 805x examples?

Some of the 3th party assemblers used with the MCU module are 16-bit applications.

Microsoft removed the 16-bit subsystem from their 64-bit OS, that is why these assemblers will not run under 64 bit vista.

Work is currently being done to get around the missing 16-bit subsystem problem
