NASA User Group Meeting - July 2010

Example code demonstrating how to synchronize multiple CompactRIO systems that each include NI 9215 and NI 9234 modules.  This is not trivial because the NI 9215 module uses a successive approximation register (SAR) type analog to digital converter (ADC); whereas, the NI 9234 module uses a delta-sigma type analog to digital converter.  The example demonstrates how to account for the group input delay characteristic of modules like the NI 9234 when synchronizing measurements from c series modules that are based on the delta-sigma type ADC architecture with those based on the SAR type ADC architecture.  Furthermore, it demonstrates how to leverage the online resampling engine provided by NI's Systems Engineering team to synchronize measurements from c series modules based on the delta-sigma type ADC architecture that are placed within different physical chassis.  The online resampling engine helps to account for the fact that c series modules based on the delta-sigma type ADC architecture use an onboard clock that may be exported from one module to another within a chassis, but not from one module in one chassis to another module in a separate chassis.

The included presentation also looks at additional timing and synchronization subjects, such as NI's Trigger Clock technology for SMC-based devices.  The Noninvasive Blood Pressure Monitor demonstration used to illustrate how to efficiently move your designs down the deployment curve is not being posted at this time.  The key enabling technology in that example was the NI StateChart Module software.
