Problem

I would like to use the NI CompactRIO Scan Mode on my CompactRIO.  What hardware supports this and what software do I need?

Solution

CompactRIO Scan mode was introduced with Real-Time module 8.6.  In addition, the controller must be running the VXWorks Operating System and the backplane must contain at least a two million gate FPGA.

To use scan mode on a one million gate FPGA, the FPGA module is required and must be installed.  Creating a blank FPGA VI under the target and then compiling this will then allow scan mode to be used.

At this time, the Single-Board RIO (sbRIO) does not support the Scan Mode interface.

Software:
Real-Time Module 8.6+
Ni-RIO 3.0+ with Scan Mode Support installed on cRIO

Hardware:
Controllers:  NI 9012, NI 9014, NI 9073, and NI 9074
Backplanes: NI 9103, NI 9104, NI 9073, and NI 9074

The NI 9101, NI 9102 and NI 9072 are one million gate FPGA backplanes and require the FPGA module to use scan mode.

所以此文的意思就是要有200萬的FPGA閘數才有支援Scan mode，而9101只有100萬的閘數沒辦法直接支援Scan mode，那問題就是 cRIO-9111 有支援Scan mode嗎?? 那它的閘數是多少??

5 new cRIO-911x reconfigurable chassis based on the Virtex-5 family of FPGAs from Xilinx. 

These new chassis provide a significant increase in both FPGA size and performance over existing CompactRIO chassis and do so at the same or lower price. 

The Virtex-5 FPGA is the newest FPGA available from Xilinx and are not only the largest FPGAs to date in CompactRIO hardware,

but also provide design improvements such as 6-input look-up tables (versus 4 for Virtex-II and Spartan FPGAs) and more efficient routing tools.

These 5 new chassis are available in 4 and 8 slot versions and are completely compatible with the cRIO 9012/4 and cRIO 9022 controllers. 

 All 5 of these new chassis support the new scan mode ease of use programming.
