NI-IMAQdx now natively supports generic USB devices including cameras, webcams, microscopes, scanners, and many other consumer-grade imaging products that expose functionality through a DirectShow interface. DirectShow is a multimedia framework developed by Microsoft for Windows systems.
DirectShow drivers are provided by a wide range of USB device manufacturers including Lumenera, IDS, Point Grey, Logitech and Creative, and the installation of these DirectShow camera drivers is required for NI-IMAQdx. NI-IMAQdx then interfaces with and exposes all of the functionality from the camera’s DirectShow driver. Functionality such as triggering is not supported by DirectShow.
