ni-visa installation woes (CentOS 7)

Hi,

Since the initial release of the ni rpms a couple of years ago, I haven't had any real issues installing ni-visa and ni-488.2 - until today.

I am trying to install a readout system on a new PC to replace one which is 12 years old.  Both systems run Centos7.

Installing the 2019 release I initially found that NIvisaic or visaconf would both hang upon initialisation.  Investigations showed that ni-488.2 in the 2019 release has rather many more dependecies that the 2018 release, so I uninstalled it.  At this point visaconf and nivisaic would briefly start and I could see the list of USB devices in nivisaic, but I could not access them.

However I need to access a GPIB device - a wafer probe station - so I need 488.2.  I uninstalled all the 2019 stuff and went back to the 2018 release as used on the old computer.  Now I'm back to square 1 and both applications hang, taking 100% CPU.

Any ideas how to debug this further?

Thanks!
