A question about DOORS integration

The company is work for is about to purchase NI TestStand.

I have been asked to investigate whether a specific feature will be available to us.

What we would like to do is to link requirements in DOORS with specific tests, run automated test scripts on the requirements and have the test results fed automatically back into DOORS and linked to the relevant requirement.

I have had a look around the documentation on this site and came across Requirements Gateway.

It appears that this tool can extract requirements from DOORS but does it have the ability to feed results back in?

If so how much user integration is required? Is it a software task to achieve?

My questions may sound obvious but I have no experience with NI products

This should be possible but it will require some user interaction. TestStand Sequence files can be analyzed by Requirements Gateway (NIRG) to pull coverage information from the step properties. Someone will need to analyze the NIRG project and then export the coverage information to DOORS using a wizard. This document has more details. 

You should be aware that the latest released version of NIRG (2014) has only been tested to work with DOORS versions up to 9.6.1. You can download evaluation copies of TestStand and Requirements gateway to test it out yourself. Examples install to the <C:\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments> directory for both TestStand and NIRG.

There are 3rd party company's that provide this sort of interface but its whether you want to keep the IP rights in-house and/or are happy to use an off the shelf product or develop in-house. This could be a complete product or just an add-on.
