Admin rights needed to run TS

We have TS setup to require no password for login. However the PC user login causes a problem. The systems engineer can run it just fine because he has admin privileges. However some of the  test operators do not have admin privileges and an error msg occurs stating that one must have admin rights to access the .ini file that TS uses.

Is there a file setting that is wrong here?

Thanks,

jvh

What version of TestStand are you using? Older versions placed the INI files in a sub-folder of "Program Files".

Local admins of the computer (TS developer/engineer) might be able to read and write to this folder, but a regular user may not...

Version is 4.2.1.

I apologize that my previous post was in error. It was second hand information. The problem is now described as changes to the NIC card settings when changing from a 192.168.0.100 address to 10.1.0.2 address. However the 2nd is set as a secondary address for that NIC so I wouldn''t think that would require any admin level changes.

Anyway sounds like it is not really a TS issue....

Thanks,

jvh

Hello,

Could you post the version you are using and the exact error message that pops up? ( a screen shot maybe )

Anna, I think he figured out that his problem had nothing to do with TestStand. TestStand 4.1 and higher should run as a non-admin user without any problems as long as the code you are calling from your sequences can also run without admin privileges.

Hope this helps,

-Doug
