Announcing TestStand 2025 Q2!

TestStand 2025 Q2 released on April 10th, 2025 and is available for download!

We’re excited to announce the release of TestStand 2025 Q2, which comes with new features including:

  • Creating user interfaces and custom steps using .NET 8
  • Efficient source control of TestStand sequence files using git
  • Using TestStand in CI/CD workflows without additional cost

Note: Installing TestStand 2025 Q2 will replace TestStand 2024 Q4. Additionally, if you have purchased TestStand 2024 Q4, you can upgrade to TestStand 2025 Q2 free of cost, and take full advantage of the .NET upgrade.

Creating interfaces and custom steps using .NET 8

TestStand 2024 Q4 enabled calling .NET 8 assemblies. TestStand 2025 Q2 further enables you to create user interfaces & custom step types using .NET 8. Additionally, the entire TestStand software is now built using .NET 8, which is the latest version of .NET. The TestStand .NET examples and user interfaces are all now built using .NET 8.

With this, the .NET 8 (previously referred to as .NET core) update in TestStand is complete.

Note: We recommend you upgrade your .NET Framework assemblies to .NET 8 in order to use them with Teststand 2025 Q2 & above.
If you want to continue using your .NET Framework assemblies, they would work too, as long as those features are supported in .NET 8. We strongly recommend you to refer to this FAQ and .NET features no longer supported in TestStand. These limitations are not imposed by TestStand, but rather due to breaking changes in .NET 8.

Efficient source control of TestStand sequence files using git

Git is a popular source control framework. TestStand 2025 Q2 makes it easy to manage your sequence files using the Git pane. Git pane enables you to clone, visualize and perform basic git operations on your repository containing sequences, from within the TestStand sequence editor without having to navigate to other applications.

If you have already standardized on a git client, you can leverage the tool we have published here, to integrate the TestStand ‘Diff and Merge Utility’ within the git client of your choice.

Using TestStand in CI/CD workflows without additional cost

We have updated our license agreement to enable you to use TestStand within your CI/CD workflows without additional cost. For this you should have at least one active TestStand Development System license. Refer here for more details.
