CTD Information

For any CTD's out there:

I was wondering what the exact format of the exam is and/or are there any exam examples that exist?

thanks,

Quintin -

I can give you some insight about the CTD exam.

The developer exam is exactly 4 hours in length.  The exam consists of an application development problem.  Essentially, you will be handed a specification and user interface requirements.  You will be expected to create an application which meets these requirements.

Unfortunately, there have not been any 'retired' TestStand developer exams, so we do not have a formal CTD exam available.   However, for preparation questions on any certification, feel free to contact our certification team at certification@ni.com.

I hope this helps.  Have a great day!

Thanks Andrew,

Is is right that the test consists of two parts: Mutiple Choice Questions and then the actual portion where you develop an application?

Also, are there any hints or tips you could lend me?  What are the more important areas to focus on for the application portion?

thanks again,

Quintin

Quintin,

Let me rephrase a little bit about the CTD contents.  A portion of the test is in fact multiple choice.  The other portion of the test is considered a practical portion.  This portion of the test consists of some simple questions in which you are given a requirement, and you build it in TestStand.  It is not a full application development (that is saved for the CTA test).

As far as the material in the test goes, the test is largely based off of the TestStand courses.  My best advice to you would be to use TestStand I & II course manuals as your study guides.  I would also go through each of the exercises within the manuals again.

I hope this helps!
