Calling VI from previous step using reference

Hi,

We are using TestStand to retrieve data from a labview VI, using 'call by reference'. The data is appear to be existed when I open the VI and check, however, when I do not open the VI the data did not appear on teststand level.

Do we need to put any execution timing/ software timing control in the call by reference VI, in order to use within Teststand?

What are you returning the data into in TestStand, are you using a Local. can you post a picture of the Step setup showing the connection to the VI. or post and example
