Can TestStand 3.0 be installed alongside 2.0?

I have lots of code to support in TestStand 2.0, but am interested in trying out 3.0 and potentially switching over. Is there a problem with installing TestStand 3.0 on a system that has TS 2.0 (and LabView 7) already installed? It is important that the TS 2.0 libraries, sequences, etc remain unchanged by the 3.0 installation.

Hi,

Yes you can. In fact TestStand 3.0 installs to the Program Files\National Instruments\ folder by default where as Teststand 2.0 installs to the C:\TestStand folder.

You cannot run the two together. There is a utility which you use to select the Version you want to make active.

By default if you open a TS 2.0 sequence, and you attempt to save it, it will ask you to backup the older version. There is an option to determine whether this prompt appears. TestStand 3.0 has a feature to save 3.0 sequences in 2.0 format, but as with any product that has file versions it is best to only use this save as previous version when you accidentally overlay a copy of a sequence that should have been backed up.
