DeploymentUtility Error

When trying to call the deployment utility by running TestStand > Tools > Deploy TestStand System, I get the error:

Unable to locate the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine.

DeploymentUtility requires a version 7.1 (or compatible) LabVIEW Run-Time Engine.  Please contact the vendor of DeploymentUtility to correct this problem.

I am running NI TestStand 4.0.1f1 Development System with LabView 8.6.  I also verified using Measurement & Automation Explorer that I have LabVIEW Run-Time 8.6 installed.  If I attempt to install LabVIEW Run-Time 7.1, I get the error:

Installation aborted:  A higher version of this product is already installed.

Do I need to uninstall LabVIEW Run-Time 8.6 and install LabVIEW Run-Time 7.1?  This could cause incompatibility issues with my VIs!  Thanks for any suggestions.

Hello George Mah,

Are you stating that the error occurs when you press the build button within the Deployment Utility, or just when you try to open the Deployment Utility?

If the problem occurs when trying to open the deployment utilty, then make sure that the path (as displayed below in MAX) is added to your search directories under Configure » Search Directories...

A list of the various deployment erros is below for your reference.

Also, if the error occurs during the build, then maybe you've checked box to include the LabVIEW 7.1 Run-Time Engine on the Installer Options tab of the Deployment Utility » Drivers and Components...  I would try unchecking this box and checking the box for the LabVIEW Runtime Engine version 8.6.

What Do the Various Warnings Given by the TestStand Deployment Utility Mean?

Let me know which case you're working with and whether the suggestion resolves the issue when you get a chance.

The error is occurring when trying to launch the deployment utility.  I added the LabView Run-Time Engine (8.6) path to the TestStand search directories, but I still get the same error message.

Hello George Mah,

Would you follow the directions in the following KB and let me know if the LabVIEW Run-Time Engine (either version 7.0 or 7.1.1) shows up in the list of NI Installed Software?

How Do I Uninstall or Repair National Instruments Software?

I would also suggest a repair of TestStand to see if that resolves the issue.

NI LabVIEW Run-Time Engine 7.1.1 is listed in the software products installed.  I repaired the TestStand installation per the instructions but still see the same error.  I am going to attempt a complete uninstall and reinstall of all NI software.  Thanks.
