Going back to earlier version of Developer's Suite

I recently upgraded to 2010 developer's suite but now need to go back to 2009. Is there any problem with doing this?

Thanks,

jvh

This should not be a problem for licensing. Whenever you buy any NI Software, you are elligible to recieve any of the previous versions of that software. Additionally, most of NI's software allows you to have multiple versions installed at the same time. For instance, you may have LabVIEW 8.6, 2009, and 2010 all installed simultaneously on the same computer. Visit ni.com/src for more information and to download older versions of you software.

However, you may run into difficulties downgrading your applications. Hopefully you still have copies of your applications saved in 2009, because a 2010 application will not open in 2009.

Specifically which software do you need to downgrade? Why do you need to downgrade?

I need to revert because I updated my dev suite from 2009 to 2010 on 10/28. Since that time I have not been able to build a deployment.Production which affects 4th quarter results is on hold and so is my backside.

I get this error:

Error: Unable to find all subVIs from saved VIs, either a subVI is missing or the VI is not saved under the current LabVIEW version.

The missing file path is:C:\__views\calTest_jvh\mastrv\Deployments\MASTRV-CalAndTest\target\SupportVIs\NI_report.lvclass

Try loading the following top level VIs and using File->Save All:

C:\Program Files\National Instruments\LabVIEW 2010\vi.lib\Utility\NIReport.llb\NI_report.lvclass

C:\__views\calTest_jvh\mastrv\automated_tests\MastrvCalAndTest\Dialogs\Dialogs.lvlib while Processing VIs...

Brandon, Manuuch, et al have been working on it . You asked why I want to do it. It is not a case of want to but a directive to supply an immediate solution. I am under extreme pressure to get the factory rolling again to the point of me working nights, weekends and holidays if necessary to manually test what the test stations will no longer do.

jvh,

I spoke with Brandon about your issue, and he assured me that they are actively working on resolving it.

Reverting to a previous version of the Developer's Suite is unfortunately not an easy task. Because it is a package of several software systems, it may be better to uninstall all of your NI software and start from scratch with fresh installations in 2009.

For more information and support, I would recommend contacting Applications Engineering using the service request number you already have open since they are more familiar with all the aspects of your issue.

D Biel,

I know they are working on it. But I must get production back on line so going back to something that worked before seemed like a business solution to my management. Two+ weeks is a long time to be down.

jvh,

It is my understanding that you were able to build a deployment in 2009. Is this true? Or do you still need help reverting to an older version?

If you have reverted, then as long as all of your code modules are saved in a LabVIEW 2009 version, and LabVIEW 2009 is active, then it should automatically use 2009.
