We are starting to think about the problems of controling multiple ATE systems on a production floor.
Questions like:
How to ensure the latest software is being used for the right build.
What happens if the network goes down.

If anyone has had first hand experience of controlling ATE systems on a production floor,we would love to hear from you.

By the end of the month, we'll have close to 50 different testers running TestStand and LabVIEW. For version control, we've setup a network server with a release folder. The testers are all running Windows NT and the operator priveleges only allow them to connect to the release folder. Development occurs on a network drive that has limited access. We're also about to implement MS Visual SourceSafe. If our network goes down, production is also down. We could replicate the sequences and results database locally but most of our products require a MAC address. Since each MAC address must be unique, the only way we can do the assignment is from a shared database on the network. So far we've been pretty lucky in that the network has seldom gone down except for some sched
