Is there a tool to create custom step automatically?

Hi, guys，

We are considering build hundreds vis into custom steps so users will configure them more easier especially for those with limited TestStand background.

This is a definitely tedious and burdensome work. Is there a tool to create these custom steps automatically?

Hi,

As far as I know, no there is not such tool available.

A setp type defintion hold a lot of options, and I guess it would be a tedious work to build a tool allowing a full automated configuration.

However, you can build your own using the TS API.

Do you need a different edit dialog for each one?  That's going to be your limiting factor for this. 

Personally I know of no such tool.  However, you could create one.  For each step you still have to make the decision about which sub properties you need and what the edit dialog will look like.

Have you looked into step templates?  This way they can just drag preconfigured steps they want into the sequence.  They wouldn't/shouldn't have to edit or change anything.

Template is an easy way I was always using.

I wonder to know if there exists a convenient tool when I noticed a NI alliance which locates in Italy build a really nice custom step.
