Limits file with multiple Tabs

Can you select individual tabs out of an Excel spread sheet "Limits File" when using the Property Loader?

I do not want to split my limits file into 15 peices. But I don't want to have 1300 sequence calls in my main sequence. I need to break the sequences up into 15 test sections. Is there a way you can specify a Excel Tab from a sread sheet as the source of the Limits File using Property Loader?

Hi johnmestan,

Unfortunately, this is not currently a feature of the Property Loader in TestStand (distinguishing between different worksheets in one file). It is a feature being considered for development, under Corrective Action Request 40811. You can monitor future releases of TestStand using this number to check quickly if that is an added feature.

From my quick research, it looks like people typically turn to using ActiveX methods exposed by Excel to populate a new file with the desired information from the worksheet.

Thanks,

One more question if I may.   If the sequence I call has multiple results is there a way to delineate them using the property loader, or again do I have to go the active X route?

Hi johnmestan,

It may be worth you evaluating TestStand 2016, as the Property Loader has had a major overhaul:

TestStand 2016 - What's New

Spoiler

Gain Extended Support for Property File Formats

In addition to traditional support for select databases as well as Microsoft Excel, text, and other ANSI file types, the TestStand 2016 Property Loader allows users to load values from any file format with a plug-in architecture that enables additional custom formats.

Work With an Enhanced User Experience

Additional changes to the Property Loader increase its usability during sequence development. The TestStand 2016 Property Loader includes support for aliasing, so that you can define your properties according to logical names and simply map to TestStand parameters through an alias file. The redesign also adds the ability to preview properties at edit time, sequence analyzer rules to validate Property Loader steps, and a consistent UI between the Import/Export tool and the Property Loader step settings pane.
