Patch for Teststand if .Net v2 SP1 is NOT installed

Hi,

I work for a large organisation and I dont think our computers are upgraded to .Net v2.0 SP1 yet.  Should I still install the 4.0.1f1 Patch for Teststand?

You only need the patch if you have .Net framework SP1 is installed on that machine.

I would like to add that Microsoft pushed out .Net Framework 2.0 as an critical update around Jan 25th 2008.
So you might already have it installed on your machine if you have 'Windows Updates' enabled.

Hi Anand,

Thanks for your reply.  Please could you tell me if .Net 2.0 is same as .Net 2.0 SP1?  I might already have it in that case.  Also, is there any harm in installing the Testand update even without the above version of .Net?

 Hi,

.Net 2.0 SP1 is the Service Pack for .Net 2.0 (similar to Windows OS service packs).

There should be no harm in updating TestStand even if you haven't installed the Service Pack.

I would not update TestStand if there is no need to,  i.e. if you did not install the service pack for .Net 2.0.

It is a new patch and although there should be no problems, it is often that customers unveil bugs that we failed to identify during our testing period.
