Prevent customizing Menu & Tool Bar after Logout

Hi,

I have a problem with TestStand 4.0 Sequence Editor:  When I logout from Sequence Editor, I can even customize the Menu and Tool Bar. Why?

What steps are you doing to get this kind of behavior?  (i.e. File>>Logout)  And how are you customizing the Menu and Tool bar?  (e.g. Tools>>Customize..)  Is this a custom Seq. Editor?  Or is it the default one?

I have clicked the menu "File>>Logout" within default SeqEditor.

After Logout,  most Menu and Tool items are gray, it is correct. But when I call the ContextMenu by right-clicking on Menu/Tool-Bar, I can still customize the Menu/Tool-Bar layout. (i.e. I can remove every Menu from the Menu-Bar, but without Login). I have tried this on several computers, had the same problem.

Hey My NI,

This is expected behavior.  You are not doing anything to the TestStand engine here.  The only thing that is happing is that you are changing your Sequence Editor environment.  This is ok to do when you aren't logged in.  When you do login you have certain privileges (depending on your login type- Admin, Developer, Technician, Operator).  The reason this is necessary is to allow certain groups certain privileges.  For instance if you have a sequence set up a certain way and you don't want operators to modify it then when they log in as an operator they aren't allowed to change it.  Whether or not they change which menus are visible is not a concern.  It doesn't change what they can and can't do as far as privileges are concerned.

it doesn't really change what they can and can't do as far as privileges are concerned. But if they remove the "Execute" menu unintentionally, it is a big catastrophe for other User.

To disable this, do the following:

Login, and go to Configure >> Sequence Editor Options.
Go to the UI Configuration Tab.
Check the "Lock UI Configuration by Disabling the Following checkbox.
Check the Customization checkbox.

You can disable other parts of the UI Configuration you wish to lock as well.

And some tips:

set options to "False" in "User Manager >> Groups >> GroupName >> User Privileges >> Configure" can prevent User from customizing Menu/Too Bar absolutely.
