Support of ATML TestDescription in TestStand

Hi

From the information on the website and forums, I cannot decisively conclude if TestStand 4.0 already offers out-of-the-box support for the import and export of ATML TestDescriptions.Thus, how would I, for example, currently accomplish the needed export of ATML TestDescription in TestStand?

In case there is no built-in support for ATML TestDescription yet, I would be glad if someone could tell me if and when NationalInstruments intend to implement it.

Hey Tubinh,

I am attaching the ATML document that ships with TestStand.  I'm not sure what you mean by TestDescription?  TestStand has the capabilities to write ATML Reports based on the results from your test.

thank you for the quick answer, but I was referring to the ATML Schema 'TestDescription', which should be used to export the test sequence file from TestStand to an ATML-format or import it back into the application.

Hey Tubinh,

In TestStand 4.0 I know that you can save to 3 different file formats- INI, XML and binary.  I don't know if the XML format can be formatted to be used in ATML or not (since I don't know enough about ATML) but I'm attaching an XML formatted Sequence File if you want to see what it looks like.

I wanted to ask: On the website http://zone.ni.com/devzone/cda/tut/p/id/6100 it is written that TestStand provides an Interface-Framework for the use of Industry Standards like ATML in the area of test sequences.

Since there currently is no direct export of TestTand Sequence to ATML, I wanted to ask if there is at least an example for the mapping of TestStand Sequence File to the ATML TestDescription File? I.E. a TestStand Sequence file and an corresponding (equivalent) ATML file.

It would be very helpful for me if any of you could provide me with such an example.

I was planning on having a colleague more involved in ATML contact you.  Unfortunately he has been out of the office.  The short answer is that we do not currently have support for ATML Test Description.  Due to the complexity of Sequence Files, it is difficult to export them to ATML  TD without losing information.  However, we are looking into being able to read ATML TD files and use them in TestStand for a future version.
