TestStand Certification

Hello,

I have more than one year of experience with TestStand. I am willing to attend the CTD(Certified Teststand Developer) exam provided by NI. I could know that NI recommends TestStand Basics I and II for preparing for the exam. I searched in the internet, but I was unable to find these materials. Can anybody help to get this material or alternative materials to prepare for the exam? Is there any sample exam paper available like CLAD for LabVIEW?

Thanks in Advance...

If you wish to take the training courses in person, you can find more information on how to do so at ni.com/training. On the left hand side there will be a link for NI TestStand.

If you simply want to purchase the course materials and self-pace them, you can find more information on the pages linked below:

TestStand I - Introduction Course Kit

TestStand II - Development Course Kit

Hope this helps.

Are these kits TestStand I & II, covered under the NI Training and Certification Membership?

Also, are there sample exams or study information to prepare for the CTD exam?

Can you give me an outline of what is covered in the CTD exam?  What should be expected of someone and is this exam based on questions to be answered or design of a module, structure of code, documentation and getting a best time to finish?  Is this exam like taking the CLD test where you create a process module?

(Exerpts taken from NI website) -

"Demonstrates a broad and complete understanding of NI TestStand core features and functionality"

"NI TestStand certification process. The exam measures the ability to develop, debug, and deploy functional applications in NI TestStand software while minimizing development time and ensuring maintainability."

"The Certified TestStand Developer (CTD) certification represents core knowledge and skill in the design, development, and integration of production tests in the TestStand environment. A CTD demonstrates the following competencies in TestStand:"

  • Apply concepts, definitions, and configuration options
  • Utilize TestStand data storage and data passing mechanisms
  • Develop and debug tests using standard development environments

Exam Details
- Prerequisite: None
- Format: Multiple choice
- Duration: 1 hour
- Location: Pearson VUE testing centers or NI branches

Can a certified TestStand Developer answer what they felt should be studied to pass the CTD Exam and explain the 'Exerpt paragraph' bulleted items above in more detail?  Are there exam example questions available to study?      Thank you.

All -

More information regarding the Certified TestStand Developer Exam can be found here:

NI Certified TestStand Developer (CTD)

At the bottom of this page, you will find three links - the second of which directs you to the Exam Topics page:

How Can I Prepare for the Certified TestStand Developer (CTD) Exam?

This page gives a general idea of the Exam Topics but also provides a link to a PDF document that details the topics that should be prepared for:

Studying the TestStand I Course material along with two to three weeks of average TestStand use will be more than sufficient for the CTD exam.

Hope this helps.

Make sure you study the TestStand Reference Guide. It contains information in the exam that the course or manuals don't cover.

Also, I recommend going through all the menus of the TS editor and understand all the options available. ALL!

Good luck! 🙂
