TestStand startup error -17502

I had an employee attempt to install the debug version of TestStand 3.0 onto his computer. He was unsuccessful and due to project constraints decided to go back to version 2.0. He uninstalled 3.0 and attempted to reinstall 2.0. Now whenever he launches TestStand he gets a system level exception error -17502. See attached file. I have attempted to debug it with VC++ but the error is thrown before the sequence editor even loaded. I am sure this employee may have blown away some system file in his confusion.

Hi John,

You could try a couple of things:

1) Run the version switcher located inside of \National Instruments\Shared\TestStandVerSelect\TSVerSelect.exe. Then specify that you want to make TestStand 2.0 the active version. Select the Make Active button even if 2.0 is stated as the current version.

2) Uninstall 2.0 from the machine. Delete the entire TestStand folder, including any folders remaining from TestStand 3.0. Enter the registry (Start>>Run>>Regedit.exe), locate and delete the following key (if it exists): HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SOFTWARE\National Instruments\TestStand. Reinstall TestStand 2.0.

Hopefully, one of these will fix up the machine.

Bob
