Testexec not functioning on target PC after TestStand 3.0 Deployment Utility

Since my target PC is using Windows 98, I copied the all the files from the 'TestStand 2.0.1 Operator Interfaces (Old)/Full Featured/LabVIEW 6.1' to my operator interface - user directory. Also since I am using LabVIEW 7.0, I mass complied ALL the VIs in my operator interface/user/ directory and rebuilt testexec in LabVIEW 7.0.

Then I opened the TestStand Deployment Utility and built an installer including all the files in the teststand user directory. Ran the installer on the test pc. The following message appeared upon clicking 'Single Pass' within the testexec on the target PC.

Set Menu Item Info in TestStand - Initialize Execution Display Menu Strings.vi->tempexecvi2.vi

Clicked "Ok" on
the box and then teststand does nothing and must be closed via Task Manager.

I found to get around this issue is that the 'testexec.lib' created by the deployment utility is slightly larger (6237KB vs 6168KB) versus the testexec.lib that is present in the user directory. Plus testexec works fine on my pc. Hence I copied the testexec.lib in my user directory to the target pc and overwrote the 'corrupted file' Now it is working fine.

Is this a known issue? Or am I doing something else wrong with the deployment utility.

Thanks,

Paul H.

Paul,

I haven't seen or found the exact issue you described. I did find something similar dealing with a hang in the TS 2.0 Operator Interace, which has been fixed for TestStand 3.1.

The deployment process, as you described it, should work fine. So I don't know why it didn't work the first time before you replaced the testexec.lib. Was there an error number associated with that message?

No, there was not an error message. As mentioned, after loading the sequence successfully and clicking on 'Single Pass' the pop-up box with the cryptic message appears. Upon clicking 'ok' the box disappears and the hourglass starts turning and the operator interface simply hangs.

When I simply built the new testexec with LabVIEW 7.0 on my pc, and started the operator interface it worked fine. Only after using the deployment utility and selecting the installed version of testexec did it fail to work.
