Teststand Deployment Utility Crashes

Hello,

I am using TestStand 4.2.1 and Labview 10.  I am having an issue when running the deployment utility.  When I go to tools=>Deploy TestStand System... it attempts to open the TestStand Deployment Utility but then crashes.  It goes faded and then the prompt "National Instruments TestStand 4.2.1 has stopped working."  Windows is looking for a solution.

This happened for a while and then one day it started working for about a year.  Now, it does this again almost every time.  Yesterday, I got lucky and was able to get it to load and build a deployment.  After that all is get is that prompt.

Please help!

Thank you

Hey Scott,

Can you use WinDbg and attach to the process and catch the exception that is causing deployment utility to fail? See this general microsoft article or this NI KnowledgeBase article.

From there, you can create a dump file and share it.

Did anything change on the system that you are aware of to make this happen? Did you install any other version of the software or change anything on the machine?

Thanks,

Hello,

No new software has been installed and as far as I know nothing has changed.  It is just weird.  I went to make a very simple change to a sequence and build a deployment.  When I went to do that it stopped working.  I have since restarted my PC.  Made sure programs have time to open.  Everything I can think of.

I have never ran WinDbg before but I gave it a shot.  I attached the log to this message.

Thank you.

Hi Scott,

Can you keep running the debugger until it catches the crash. It looks like from the log that you are catching a first chance exception. From there, can you create a dump using the ".dump /ma <filename>" command and then sharing that?
