Version conflict when building deployment package (TS 4.2)

Hello,

 

I have a deployment file (.tsd) created with TestStand 4.2.0.134 on a PC that is working perfectly.

I have try to use it on a computer with TestStand 4.2.1.83. TestStand version 3.5.0.725 is installed on this computer too.

When I start to build the installer I get the following error:

 

Insert the CD or browse to the location where the following component is located:
TestStand 3.5 Installer.
The last directory this component was found was:
D:\

 

I have selected the  4.2.0.134 version using the version selector.

 

Why do I need the 3.5 installer on this computer to build the  4.2 installation kit?

Hi Yannick,

 

Don't worry, this is by design, and you aren't pulling in the wrong version of TestStand. The reason is that NI software is a collection of many components, which are shared across multiple products and across versions. The deployment utility is assembling all the necessary components for your project, and one of more of those happens to be on the TS 3.5 installer.
