Virus scan slowing down test

When we have McAfee VirusScan V4.5.1 monitoring continually in the background we notice a considerable slowdown in TestStand performance. I'm not sure why performance slows, since we load all VIs into memory at the beginning of the test, so I would assume it's not scanning the VI every time TestStand makes a call to it.

Has anyone else run into this problem and found a way around it? I previously had the virus scan disabled and only had it run overnight, but our IS department wants it running all the time.

To Cabman -
Look at the System Scan Status window, which you can display by double clicking on the icon in the system tray. Do you see any files that are being scanned while your system is running?
