"control could not be loaded" problem with TS controls

Yes I tried that and still no luck. It turns out however the problem was quite simple to fix. The test stand sequence/engine was deployed before and separately from the operator interface.  the machine was never restarted after installing the teststand components.  once the machine was restarted everything fell into place.  I'm almost embarrased to have posted this thread now.

I'm having the same problems and its driving me crazy.

I'm using the standard TS2010 'full featured' Testexec.exe'. I have dev machine, where the 'testexec.exe' works corectly, and 2 target machines where i get this 'control not loaded' error/

I have tried a few things from this thread - repairing the RTE etc. I have even completely deinstalled all NI compnents from one of the target machines, used the pre-built 'testexec.exe' and installed either RTE 8.6.1 or 2010 sp1 - even that shows the error!

I've also tried building the testexec.vi and making an installer, same error.

I know nothing about ActiveX, and all i really want is to use Testexec as it is.

did you use the deployment tool to deploy the testexec.exe and sequencefile?

No, i'm just using the 'testexec.exe' and copying the sequence files to the target machine.

( I thought the .exe would be executable without deploying it, i'm sure i did this in the past without problems)

No it has activeX components which need registering.

That's why it's best to use the deployment tool.

I've got to admit whilst i know labview well, i'm a newcomer to Teststand, and i've never played very much with the deployment tool. I'll try to find a guide, but any tips are welcome.

Ok, well i'm using the deployment utility. I've added the 'testexec.exe' in a new project in my workspace (hope thats correct) and i see it has added the 'testexec.llb and dependant files.

But a few questions:

- in the distrbuted files, after analysing, theres a Windows tree, with System32 and WinSxS with many ittems below (with nothing ticked)  - should anything be ticked by me there?

- I dont see any options to manuallly select inclusion/registration of activex controls..

Hello Hoss183,

TestStand will detect dependencies when you include the sequence file in the TestStand project and workspace files.  You may want to read through Chapter 14 of the TestStand reference manual.  This chapter covers different deployment scenarios and contains walk-through steps; it will help you understand how to proceed.

Ok, well my first proper teststand deployment has fixed the acitvex problem, it now runs ok - many thanks.

I'll try to study the TS manual little more. You know how it is with the management 'you know labview, we need a teststand solution in 4 weeks' the learning is done during the project 😉
