1 DOCUMENT INFORMATION

1.1  Summary

This document is meant for describing the use of Gobi custom device in NI VeriStand.

1.2  Terminology

2 Overview

Prevas Gobi boards provide fault insertion and signal conditioning. This add-on enables the use of the Gobi FISC board (see attached data sheets) in NI VeriStand.

The Gobi FISC board can be used/configured in different ways currently only the FIU states can be set using the channels that are accessible in NI VeriStand. Other features will be implemented in future or can be implemented if requested.

3 Instructions for Use

3.1 Software Requirements

This custom device has been built using LabVIEW 2013 SP1 and tested using NI VeriStand 2013. So to use this custom device you must have following software installed:

  • NI VeriStand 2013
  • NI-VISA

3.2 Hardware Requirements

  • Gobi FISC Board
  • RS232/RS485 Serial port for connecting to Gobi

3.3 Steps to Follow

  • Download the attached Gobi_vx-x-x_LV2013.zip latest file, this file includes the built libraries and xml file for the NI VeriStand.
  • Unzip and copy the Gobi custom device into the custom devices on your computer. Normally the location is “..\Users\Public\Documents\National Instruments\NI VeriStand 2013\Custom Devices\Gobi”
  • Now start the NI VeriStand and you should be able to choose the Gobi custom device in the system explorer.
  • Add the Gobi custom device to your system definition and select the COM port to which the Gobi board is connected and also give the Gobi board’s address on the main page.

  • Now you can access all the 16 channels on the Gobi board in VeriStand and any of the configured  FIU state on the channels can be set. The values on each of the Gobi channels corresspond to FIU states according to the following table. For details about FIU states and other functionality see Gobi’s user manual that can be provided on request.
