What challenge/problem are you trying to solve through your application:

The major problem that we are trying to solve through our application is creating a user friendly low cost Braille Display phone so that even the poor visually challenged people get access to the Mobile world.

We are having a lot of Braille phones but they are very costly and complicated. So we designed a simple basic phone so that even a new user can easily adapt to it.

How does your application solves the above mentioned challenge/problem:

Our Phone is specially desgined for the visually challenged with very user friendly character. This makes even a new user easy use our phone. And the next important thing is that in cost wise its very economical.

Description of Project:

We have developed a Micro controller/LabVIEW based system that will communicate to the Sim300 module to make fulfill the basic requirements of a Mobile Phone.

As it is difficult to carry a computer where ever we go. So we designed the Embedded mode of the phone so it is handy to carry.

We have designed the LabVIEW mode inorder to make this phone user friendly and more effective. The LabVIEW mode is very efficient compared to the Embedded mode. It overcomes the negatives of the Embedded mode.

EMBEDDED MODE:

There is a keypad in the that fetches data from the User and it communicates with the GSM module to make calls.

The Specialty of our phone is that we have a low cost Braille Display that would help the Visually challenged people check the number that they have entered it. We designed the Braille display using DC motors. The concept of displaying the number is just a bit different from the traditional displays. Instead of rising the pins of a Braille display we rotate the motors so that the Visually Challenged can sense it.

LABVIEW MODE:

This mode is cost efficient and user friendly. We communicate with the GSM module using the RS-232 Cable. The user can hear the number when the mouse pointer is moved to the button and after clicking it we get a voice to confirm the press. When we press any call function button the AT command is sent to the GSM module serially. By this manner we can operate the Mobile phone.
