Project Information

Project Title:Thought controlled robotic arm

Hardware & Software Used: NI DAQ(USB - 6009) , Neurosky Mindwave ,OWI Robotic Arm, L293D motor boards , LabVIEW

What challenge/problem are you trying to solve through your application:

It helps disable people to lead an independent life

How does your application solves the above mentioned challenge/problem:

It helps them to control the robotic arm through their thoughts and hence do their work themselves , like feed themselves.

Description of Project:

In India, nearly 95 lakh people are paralysed and are dependent on others for their

daily activities. This project is for people with paralysis/disablity to reconnect their brain

to an artificial limb that would help them regain the ability to move and achieve greater

independence.

The robotic arm is already in use by numerous research labs around the world for its

unique interaction and safety capabilities. We are trying to use the potential utility of the arm

by a person.

In this project , we are moving the robotic arm based on patient's thoughts so that paralysed patients can feed themselves. The EEG signals are taken from the patient, processed in LabVIEW and then given to the robotic arm ( through NI DAQ)to move it in a sequence
