What challenge/problem are you trying to solve through your application:

          There are lots of problems that are faced in the day-to-day life in a city. Some of them are as follows:

1)      Traffic Jam due to inefficient and ineffective traffic control system,

2)      Problem of money exchange in the bus,

3)      Problem in controlling the speed of the vehicles at speed limited regions,

4)      Problems in finding the destination for the new comers to the city.

How does your application solves the above mentioned challenge/problem:

1)      Smart traffic control system

2)      Introduction of smart card system in the buses.

3)      Smart speed governance of the vehicles using  digital image processing.

4)      Smart assistance to the new comer to the city.

Description of Project:

Smart Card System in the Busses is used to alleviate the problem of Money Exchange, Keep record of the passengers’ record information and prevent overloading of passengers. The money for the travel is transferred from the passenger’s Bank Account. We use face-recognition technique using NI-labVIEW to keep record if each passenger for security purpose and this will also be useful in detecting the criminals.

Smart speed governance of the vehicles is implemented by fixing different maximum speeds for different kinds of roads such as highways and small roads using GPRS system. By capturing images and processing with NI-labVIEW we can detect and alert the vehicles about the upcoming obstacles and dangers and save them from it. 

Smart Guide for Crossing the Road is used to help the pedestrians to cross the road by not letting them to move out of their allotted area (Zebra cross) by using cameras and processing the information using the image segmentation and color processing technique using NI-labVIEW. When a person is found to be moving in a wrong path he is warned by the system to move in the right path. By this the road-accidents can be prevented and the people will be made to follow the traffic rules.

Smart assistance to the new comer of the city is the feature used to help the new comers to the city,   not much familiar with the geographical locations of the city to find his destination. This is done by simply allowing the new comer to type the address of his destination in the help center which is available at the main locations of the city. The database in the help Centre gives the required details to the person.

Smart security to the public is the feature used to protect people in the public places mainly in buses from thieves and criminals who are trying to cause inconvenience to the people by pick-pocketing and misbehaving. In case of any such incident, the people can trigger an alarm by pressing a button provided at some corners of the streets and at the back of each seat in the bus. If the button is pressed the concerned area will be monitored by the control room through cameras and the rescue team will be sent immediately.

Smart Traffic Control System is used to control the city traffic in a new and efficient manner. This system controls the traffic in such a way that whenever an empty road gets its chance, the system waits for an optimum amount of vehicles to fill the road while in the mean-time giving the chance to the road which is denser at that instance and when that empty road gets filled it gets its chance back immediately. In this system IR-sensor is used to measure the density of the roads and the traffic control decisions are taken by Arduino microcontroller.
