Project Information

Project Title: Crop Monitoring System

Hardware & Software Used:

VI only completed
Intend to use Moisture and Temperature Sensor
NI Usb 6009

What challenge/problem are you trying to solve through your application:

Water wastage in irrigation
Crop losses due to over watering and under watering

How does your application solves the above mentioned challenge/problem:

We have created a system that waters crop only when moisture reaches below certain level.

This system operates at  definite intervals of  time;  it senses the quantity of water present in the soil and the

Irrigates the crops only  if  it  is necessary.

Areas of Application

1-Can be  used  in farms  and  plantations  to irrigate  the  crops  efficiently
when  the availability  of  water  and  Electric  power are  the  limiting factors.

2-Can be used to irrigate the plants grown in houses, offices, parks e.t.c.

3-Can be used to  irrigate  the crops  automatically  in the farms that are

found far away from human habitation

ADVANTAGES

1-Consumes less power,  irrigates  smartly  and  ensures maximum  crop quality.

2-Can  be  used to  control  all  types  of  irrigations such  as sprinkler,  drip

3-Easy to operate.

4-Eliminates  the need  for  human  labour  that  is required  for  manual irrigation.

5- Higher reliability, efficiency and life.

6- Affordable.

Description of Project:

The Project has a main VI named "Moisture Measurement.vi". It performs two fuction in two different loops to avoid timing delays and dependency. It firstly acquire sensor data from A0 and A1 pins
of NI USB 6009 and secondly processes it to give suitable warning. We intend to use two sensors- Moisture and Temperature.
In the processing part of "Moisture Measurment.vi" there are 5 steps executed one after the other, which are-

1-Analysis
This uses a vi named
" Analysis of Data.vi" to take avg of the temp and Moisture signal to get a single temp and moisture values.

2-Process UI
ITt shows a temperature and moisture history on the front panel

3- Set Warning
This uses a vi named "
Warning determination Zak.vi" to determine the kind of warning to be issued on front panel

4-Data Log
This case writes the acquired data on a text file( created outside the loop by a vi named "Initilize file.vi) for a record

5-Stop
Stops loop execution
