6683 PPS signal generation

I'm looking to generate a PPS signal on one of the output terminals of the PXI-6683H card. This signal will then be fed to a sensor to ensure its internal clock remains inline with GPS time.I have the 6683H using PTP to ensure the timing of the PXIe controller is maintained as accurate as possible. Unfortunately I don't have much experience in this type of work with the PXI cards.

Does anyone know a good way to accomplish this? Is it even possible?

Thanks

Hello,

The NI-Sync API, which is used to program the PXI-6683H, includes some example VIs that sound like what you’re looking for. In LabVIEW, if you go to Help»Find Examples and then navigate through the Example Finder to Hardware Input and Output»Timing and Synchronization»Time-Based. There's an example there called Generate PPS and Wait, which you can use to generate a 1 Hz clock pulse train on a PFI line.

I'm a little unclear on your overall setup. But you mentioned you want to ensure the timing of the PXIe controller is maintained as accurate as possible. Are you wanting to synchronize the system time of your controller? Just want to point out that the PXI-6683H will not automatically synchronize system time. This functionality is only available for RT controllers, and you would need to use the beta NI-Sync Hardware plugin for NI-TimeSync here
