I am trying to install an 8310 Cardbus PXI controller on a laptop. It is an HP/Compaq 8710P with a Ricoh RL5c476 Cardbus controller. The driver installation goes as expected. If I boot the laptop with the PXI system connected, it boots to the point where it starts to play the "Welcome" tone and then gives a brief blue screen and reboots itself. This will cycle endlessly until the Cardbus card is removed from the slot, then the computer will boot normally.
I know the NI hardware is good. I have plugged it into another laptop that is already loaded with operating software and the 8310 and chassis respond as expected. I have also loaded the driver on a loaner laptop following the same driver installation process and the chassis and system respond normally afterwards.
Are there any known compatibility problems with this model of laptop or Cardbus controller? I have seen the list of tested laptops and this one is not on it.
