Automotive Ethernet VLAN in TAP mode

Hi all,

I am working with PXIe-8522. I need It in TAP mode, in order to log the traffic on the ethernet port.

Because I need to log the traffic with an external tool I can’t use the logging mode as per labview example.

In order to let the external tool talk with our ECU, I need to create a VLAN.

My problem is:

If I set TAP mode for the ports in MAX,I see the port as they are unconnected in windows, and of course my VLAN will not work.

Is possible to avoid this issue? Do you have any workaround.

I found a workaround setting the port in MAX in direct mode and the bridging the ethernet under windows properties, but this works only for 100 MHz network, the Giga network need a timestamp synchronization that I am not able to have with windows bridging.

This question is best posted on the Automotive and Embedded Networks board

Anyway, the monitor in the tap mode can only be accessed via the XNET application, unlike direct mode which can be accessed via the OS stack.

I think the closest you can do is perhaps Monitoring NI-XNET Automotive Ethernet Traffic Using Wireshark
