Help. I cannot get the bios of my PXI 8184 to recognize the correct HD size. I have reflashed original 1.7, then the latest 1.8 bios from NI. This has me concerned for releasing system to client.
Details:
Western Digital 320 GB, NTFS, with three partitions. 100GB, 20GB, and 200 GB.
Phoenix Bios 1.7 (and now 1.8, 512K version). Version 4 Release 6.0.4 I think.
I have also replaced CMOS battery but not ram. Could ram do this??
Suggestions? Do I need anything from WDigital?

Hi ennis,
How large does the hard drive show in the BIOS? If it shows up as 137GB this is because of an incompatibility due to the way the BIOS addresses the drive. This was an industry wide problem. If you would like more information about it please refer to the wikipedia article linked below:
Logical block addressing - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia
If the drive does not show up as 137GB, which size does it show up as?

yes, is shows the 137GB, or the number you indicated. should I be concerned? also, when I flashed the 1.8 bios (512K version used according to the series A of 8184), it now only show 510ram, not 512. I will probably reflash the 1.7 bios.
I am reading the link now.
Thanks for the help

Unfortunately there isn't a newer BIOS version that will update that controller to support for drives larger than 137GB.
