Control of 2 USB cameras with a PXI module ?

Hi everybody, I have some questions about PXI and NI vision, especially the IMAQ USB Visions function.

First of all, I’d like to know if it’s possible to work with two different USB cameras running at the same time.

And, I ‘d like to run these two cameras on a PXI embedded controller, I think it should work if I upload NI Vision (containing the IMAQ USB Visions function). But, do I need to install the drivers of the two webcams inside the PXI? If it’s the case, I have to install windows first, I guess. Isn’t it?

Thanks for your help

Hi,

Do you use a PXI with real-time OS ?or with Windows ?

In windows, you can use the driver NI-imaq for USB :

But in Real-time OS, you need use a third party driver. (Below are several popular sites from the discussion forums:

Or Control and acquire data from the camera by calling the camera's .dll files, or Write your own drivers for the camera using VISA. There are several helpful resources. Some of which are:

The Programmers Guide to your USB device
Using NI-VISA 3.0 to Control Your USB Device

The link below explain all possibility to interface a USB camera :

Merci encore, bye.
