DAQ board not recognized by MAX

We had to replace our PXI 6030E DAQ board in our PXI chassis this week. The new board works fine and is recognized by the Windows (98) device manager. The problem I am having is that the board is not recognized as a device in the Measurement and Explorer program. I have three other boards in the chasis that are recognized. I'm not sure if the old board was recognized either since I am new to my company and had not had a chance to work with the MAX program as of yet. Shouldn't MAX recognize my board automatically? Is there anyway to force it to recognize my board?

Hello Tuber. Thank you for contacting National Instruments.

Are you using a PXI controller or a MXI connection?

When you say that MAX is not auto detecting it, are you looking under Devices and Interfaces>>NI-DAQmx Devices or Traditional NI-DAQ Devices?

Did you add the card when the computer and chassis were turned off?

What version of the NI-DAQ driver are you using?

MAX should automatically detect it unless you are trying to read it from a remote system under Traditional DAQ. Even if you force MAX to recognize the board, it won't read it properly in your program. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day!

Hi Marni. Thanks for responding to my question. To answer your questions: I am using a PXI-1000B chasis, "Traditional" NI-DAQ 6.9.2--looking under Devices and Interfaces, the card was added when the computer was off. The really weird thing is that the board works fine and the virtual channels that had previously been written to the board still work and are visible in MAX. It seems that my only problem is that the board does not show up as a listed device under Devices and Interfaces. Everything else seems to be working ok for now. I guess that as long as the "system" recognizes the board enough to function then maybe I don't have a problem. I guess it's more an issue of being dumbfounded as to why it's not recognized in MAX.

Hello Tuber,

It sounds like your version of MAX might have gotten corrupted, since it is not showing up under the Traditional DAQ devices. Since your setup still works, I wouldn't worry about it. If it starts to become an issue in the future or if other problems occur, go to Add/Remove Programs in the Control Panel, uninstall MAX and NI-DAQ, and reinstall NI-DAQ. This will put a fresh version of MAX on your computer. Please let me know if you have any questions. Have a great day!
