Hello,
It sounds like your first question is about how to use an external controller for your PXI chassis when working with a PXI-1006 chassis. To use a external controller (i.e. MXI-3) with any one of our chassis, you only need to work with one MXI-3 kit. This is made up of a PCI-MXI-3 board that is installed in your PC, connected via a cable to a PXI-MXI-3 module installed in slot 1 of your chassis (e.g. a PXI-1006 chassis). This will controll the entire chassis.
As far as your second question goes where did you obtain the two exerpts of information with regards to the PXI Trigger bus? Since the PXI-1006 chassis contains 18 slots, these are divided into 3 segments (6 slots per segment). The segments are joined together via a built in PCI-PCI bridge. You c
an automatically route triggers between devices in any one segment via the PXI Trigger Bus. The PCI-PCI bridge that exists between the segments in the chassis routes the PCI bus, but does not explicitly route the trigger bus. However, using the PXI-1006 you can route triggers from one segment to another. For more information about this, please email or phone an Applications Engineer using the following link:
