In MAX 2024Q2 it is not possible to expand the PXIe-8840 Dual Core as a NI-Linux Real Time target and there is no "Add/Remove software" option

Hi. I have strange problem even though I have tried to follow NI instructions:

Provisioning a Controller to the NI Linux Real-Time Operating System - NI

I believe I have all SW for NI Linux RT target installation:

I updated the target Bios according to NI support:

I used the download NI support supplied a link for previously. This web page states that the Bios update is for 8840 dual core:

I noted this from the Bios screen after flashing:
Bios version                    2.1.8f0
Build Date                      01/11/2022 01:11:23
Embedded Firmware Version      18

I made a boot USB Linux recovery disk:

When booting after having formatted the HD from the USB disk, the controller/target console screen looks like this:

In the Installing Software on NI Linux Real-Time PXI Controllers - NI, it is indicated that the next step should be:

This is how it looks like in my MAX:

  • It is not possible to expand the target and there is no "Add/Remove software" option.
  • It is not possible to set the IP address either.
  • There is no information about RAM etc.
  • I even tried to format the disk once more from MAX after having entered admin password (passwrd) from the console keyboard:

You have "Inconsistent IP Settings" When Using a Real-Time Target in NI MAX issue.
