Installation of PCI-MXI-4 and other PXI devices

I am using a system with a rackmount PC and a PXI Chassis controlled through a MXI-4 bus.  This computer is not connected to the internet and is running Windows XP.  I plan on using LabVIEW 7.0 to interface with the chassis.  I had the PXI cards factory installed in the chassis and received a bunch of sofware packages with it (mostly drivers).  I installed the PCI card in the PC and turned on the chassis and then the PC.  My PC immediately notified me of all the new hardware found (the PCI card as well as all of the PXI cards in the chassis) and asked for installation disks or asked if I wanted to browse on the internet.  Isn't there a way to install all of this hardware without being on the internet?  I made an attempt to look at the Introduction to PXI data acquisition device installation and programming video and my PC does not have the correct software to view the video and I do not have admin rights to my PC to install it.  I tried to use MAX to see if it recognized the hardware and it did not list them.  Any suggestions on what to try next?

Thanks!

It sounds like you saw the built-in XP dialog box for installing drivers for
new hardware. Since you have the CDs, you can check that option instead of
searching the internet. You will have to have admin rights to the computer.
If you can't get admin rights, you need another computer over which you have
full control.

I have a similar problem.  Like brindlaj my computer is not connected to the internet and I too am prompted by XP for driver software.  Unfortunately I am using a PXI and SCXI system which was stored for some number of years.  As a result, some driver CDs may have been lost.  As of now, I have:

PXI chassis resource CD(1031)
MXI-4 Software for Windows(8336)
VI Logger
M Series additional documentation for use with DAQmx 7.3
DAQmx 7.4
DAQ 7.3
Switch Executive

Currently Installed (DAQmx 8.5)

When running MAX, the computer finds the PXI bridge MXI-4 8336 ("PXI Bridge(PXI-MXI-4) from PXI System(External PC)") card in the chassis but no other cards which have been installed (The three remaining slots are "Empty/Unidentified").  I have two other cards installed in the PXI 1031 Chassis: PXI 8416 CAN Series 2 and PXI 6251 M series Multifunction DAQ.  I wish to connect the 6251 to a NI SCXI 1001.

Do I have the driver CDs for the 6251, or are they included in any of the disks listed above?
Where would windows go to find these drivers? (so I can download them from one computer and transfer them to another)

Thank You!

Hi GRC,

If you install DAQmx the 6251 should work. You can check this with MAX
