Labview RT, Software error in MAX

I got a strange issue... I have the following.
A PXI 8186/7 Controller.
2 FPGA 7831R's
A few DAQ boards running on LabVIEW RT.

Now, here is the problem..I stop the execution of the VI and wait till the editor comes to edit mode, BTW, I stop the VI correctly by closing all opened up resources etc.( I am no longer using any RT-FIFO's cause I thought that would be an issue) My code is a little big (400 Vi's )

As soon as I enter the edit mode and try to modify the VI's, the system hangs and then it looses connection. I would then have to reselect the target and then I can open up the VI again. However, after 2 times of this same behavior. The RT will stop responding and I would need to go into MAX and it would state "Connected -(Software Error) I would need to reboot to continue...

I am wondering, what would cause an issue like this? This is a major annoyance and how would I get rid of it?

Thanx,

Hello Ashm01,

What version of drivers do you have? I am specifically looking for versions of NI-RIO, VISA, and also the version of LabVIEW. By any chance do you have DAQmx BASE in your host computer?

If the drivers all matchup correctly, then a quick reformat and reinstall of the RT controller from MAX might be in order.

Hi,

I have this same problem happening on two systems. One of them is a 7.1 system PXI-8186. With the following.
NIDaqMX 7.2
NIRIO 1.1
Visa Server 3.1

The other (7.1.1) on a PXI-8187 Controller
NIDAQmx 7.4
NIRIO 1.1
VISA Server 3.2

I have reformatted and reinstalled the software on both systems and yet the problem still persists.

Hello ashm01,

If you can, please go ahead and upgrade your RIO driver to 1.3 and VISA to 3.3. We have fixed some issues with driver incompatibilities with later versions of RIO and so I am hoping that this might help in fixing the issue.
