Labview teststand program hangs when the LAN cable is connected.

It only hangs when lan cable is plugged in. I disabled the antivirus program and the firewall program.

Hey usdd0190,

When you say "LabVIEW TestStand Program" are you referring to the Operator Interface?  Sequence with LabVIEW steps?  Are you using National Instruments TestStand?  Or do you use the teststand term to mean a stand of PXI chassis' that are executing tests?

Also, what are your steps doing?  What is your application like?  Is there anything in your app that needs internet access?  When does it hang?  What would I have to do to reproduce this issue?

Sam

The situation is
we have Test Stand Development Enviornment and the  file:///C:/Program%20Files/National%20Instruments/TestStand%203.5/OperatorInterfaces/NI/Full-Feature...

(LV7.1)

If starting from reboot or reloading Test stand, and going to Execute, the systems (there are three, two are the same) may go off for extended periods of time (any where form 5 to 30 minutes) before the 'serial number' dialog appears.  On one system I have cleaned up the seach paths, removing non existing paths, and mass compiled code.  I intend to do this on all the systems, there may have been some improvements but it is hard to tell as the time seems to be variable.

The Test stand enviornment is set up to log to network data base, file test reports to network Directory, we also make use of a network directory as part of the 'serial Number'  or setup dialog.

we are also loading limits from local data base within the lowest level sub sequence

I hope this answers some questions, Let me know if you have any others by Phone or email please

Scott

Hey Scott,

If I remember right you are doing a lot of database stuff.  Could it be your process model or even your database options are trying to establish a connection with your server?  There's nothing that I'm aware of native to TestStand or LabVIEW that requires a connection like that.

The other thing that I'm thinking of is if you have all your steps to load when sequence file loads and you have a whole bunch of steps and sequences then it can take a while for the sequence to load.  Or if you have the steps set to load when execution begins as soon as you begin the execution it will try and load all the steps.

If you want to take this of the forums then go to ni.com/support and send an email to us.
