Max cable length for LVDS FlexRIO adapter modules

Hello, does anybody know max cable length for LVDS signal of NI 6583 adapter module. Will it be possible to transmit signal up to 100 meters with about 2MS/s rate.

Hi MacArt,

The signal integrity will be diminished over such a distance. The cables we recommend with this adapter module are not longer than 1.5 m. You can find a list of these cables in the pricing tab at the NI 6583 product page or on page 12 of NI 6583R User Guide and Specifications.

You could create your own custom cable as explained on page 16 of the User Guide, but you’ll have to investigate the signal integrity through your cable. There are a number of studies that look at how the signal integrity is affected by the transmission rate and cable length. However, we did not spec the maximum cable length.
