Hello,
has anyone seen this failure? I can´t open soft front panel to setup the dmm. I tried to reinstall VISA and NI-DMM without success.
Thanks
Robert

I had this, or similar last week. I gave the computer running LabVIEW the three-finger salute, and all was fine.
From what I understand, rebooting the computer ensures that the PXI chassis is up and recognizable to the computer bus.

Hello,
reinstalling the nidmm and visa will cause several reboots of the system. That was no solution
for me and my problem.
After starting the nidmm, the window with the information, that the 4072 won´t be found shows
a RESCAN button. By pressing the RESCAN button, the error code -1074118656 and the message,
that the device ist not recognized and this version or driver wont fit my 4072.
Should I install the only install the delivered driver or could I update to the actual version?
Delivered was Version 2.5 of NIDMM, installed on my system is the actual one from the NI homepage.
I think, I try to deinstall the NI-SW completely and install "only" the delivered SW. Hope, this will solve.

Hi Robert,
the procedure would be:
- make sure to start PXI first then PC if using with MXI-card, otherwise start PXI controller
- make sure to have administrator priviledges on your System
- check if the PXI-4072 is actually accessible by the system
1.) check MAX
2.) if not present in MAX check device manager
if both fails uninstall the NI-DMM and install the latest NI-DMM driver (download at ni.com)
- if the 4072 is correctly shown in MAX, execute the selftest
- if everything is good, start DMM Softfrontpanel
- does it still not recognize any DMM --> uninstall NI-DMM and install latest NI-DMM driver (download at ni.com)
best regards

Robert,
What happens when you run Self-Test on the PXI-4072 in your system?
Also, if you rename the PXI-4072 to a different name ("4072", for instance), does it work?
The 4072 in your system looks like it may not be installed correctly. The icon that it shows in MAX is the generic PXI icon, not the icon that NI-DMM devices should show (my apologies, but I cannot remember the terminology). Additionally, the 4072 should show as 3: NI PXI-4072 "PXI-4072". Yours is showing as 3: 4072 "PXI-4072". See the image below for how it should look:
Please let us know if this helps.

Hello Tobias,
as you describe, the icon of the pxi card show, that the card driver was not installed correctly.
Reinstalling the driver solves it.
Thanks for your all support
