NI-PXI 1052 chassis with 8 SCXI 1125 modules configuration

Hi

I have a NI PXI 1052 chassis with NI PXI 8186 embedded controller, and the a NI PXI 6280 m series DAQ card, placed in the 4th slot of the chassis, in the SCXI slots i have 8 signal conditionig modules NI PXI 1125 with terminal box 1328. I am trying to configure this chassis using MAX, when i select the "new daqmx device" and select 1052 chassis and select auto detect modules, the modules are not getting detected, and when i manually select the modules and the accessories and test the chassis, it says there are no modules in the slot, what am i doing wrong, i have switched on the scxi switch at back of the chassis. Is there any other aspect to be taken care of before i configure this setup using MAX. Thanks for any answers,

Grazie e' mille'

Hi,

This is strange. Let's first try some of the simple things- Make sure you are selecting the DAQ device in the rightmost slot as your communicating device. Also, make sure that you have the latest driver installed, NI DAQ 7.4:

If you have this driver installed, then I would suggest installing it again.

Also, are there any errors associated with this? What do they say?

Let me know. Thanks!

Hi George

Thanx for the reply, actually i have only 1 DAQ card to communicate with all the scxi modules, and it is placed at the right most slot of 1052 PXI, the same DAQ card is connected to 2 other scxi chassis 1001 with 12 modules each in cascade. This PXI detects the scxi modules in the scxi chassis 1001, but not the scxi modules in the 1052 chassis so there should'nt be any problem with software i belive, besides i have latest nidaqmx 7.4 installed on both PXI and host. I have one more system(1052) with same configuration and software, only difference is the ram. when i connected this 1052 chassis to the scxi chassis 1001 i mentioned before, all the modules are detected. so am wondering if the problem is with the hardware. am attaching the screen shot of MAX with errorneous system connected, please tell me if any perticulare screenshot would be helpfull. thax for the reply again.

Arun

Hi,

There is a KB that discusses this issue with a different DAQ board and PXI chassis. Nonetheless, the idea is still the same:

There is another KB also:

Let me know if this does not help. Have a Great Day!

Hi George

Thanx a lot for your help, actually i found out the problem yesterday. When we were connecting the terminal blocks to scxi module, one of the terminal block was forced in, which caused a pin in the scxi module to bend and get shorted with another pin, after i removed this module everything was working fine.
