NTFS Versus FAT32

I have a NI PXI-1042 Chassis with a host of test instruments.  Today I did a properties on the C: Drive and learned that the file system is FAT32.  The system came with Win2K.  From a performance standpoint, is FAT32 better than NTFS.  The processor in my controller is a Celeron at 850MHz.  Your thoughts as to the advantages/disadvantages of both formats.

To briefly answer your questions, the particular benefit of FAT32 when thinking about Virtual Instrumentation systems is that it allows you to run Real-Time (LVRT or CVI RT) as a dual-boot with Windows. The NTFS filesystem is not recognized by the RT system. For more information: Dual-booting LVRT and Windows

NTFS is a more modern OS. It has some peformance benefits and additionally allows you to compress, encrypt and add file permissions to files and directories. This is the OS that NI primarily uses for our Controllers.
